Bio:

Kai Beckmann is a PhD student in the SENSYBLE doctoral school, a joint program of RheinMain University of Applied Sciences Wiesbaden and Goethe University Frankfurt. His research topics range from middleware for distributed embedded systems to model-driven software development and tests for embedded and industrial applications. He has been working at RheinMain University as a research assistant in joint research projects with industrial partners since 2010. Kai leads the development effort of sDDS, an open source, data-centric, publish-subscribe middleware for the IoT. Undergraduate and graduate students collaborate in this work. sDDS implements the Data Distribution Service OMG Standard and targets small microcontroller-based platforms.
