Title:
Energy-Aware Urban Sensing with RIOT
Biography:
Michel is a research associate at the Internet Technologies group at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. In the research project SANE he is working on future technologies and devices for self-sustainable smart urban sensing.
Abstract:
Energy-Harvesting provides an alternative to battery powered operation that can allow IoT devices a virtually infinite lifetime. When running on dynamic power supply, active energy management becomes a must to achieve best utilization and avoid depletion. To what extend can required functionalities be transformed into generic solutions that support the developer? This talk gives an overview on concepts and technologies involved with self-powered energy-aware IoT devices. After one year of RIOT based outdoor deployment in a mobile urban sensing setting we share our experiences and spark interest for future improvements on RIOT’s energy awareness.
